2000 - Videoprojektion auf eine Wand
Auf eine weiße Wand wird in realer Größe ein Mann projiziert, der die Wand grün streicht. Im Verlauf der in Realzeit wiedergegebenen Aktion wird der durch die Projektion hell erleuchtete Raum immer grüner und dunkler. Die Aufnahme der ca. 20minütigen Sequenz wurde genau an der Stelle gedreht, nämlich vor der Kopfwand des Ausstellungsraumes der Galerie Gabriele Rivet Köln, wo nachher die Projektion stattfand.
Der Ablauf: Zunächst wird von den Darstellern, der Galeristin Gabriele Rivet und dem mit einem blauen Arbeitskittel bekleideten Künstler Volker Saul ein Bild von der Wand gehängt. Bei diesem Bild handelt es sich um ein großes Foto von Mercedes Barros, die vor meiner Ausstellung "life size" in der Galerie ausgestellt hat. Nachdem das Bild abtransportiert wird, entfernt Volker Saul die Nägel und verspachtelt die Löcher, bevor er die Wand grün streicht. Nachdem er sie fertig gestrichen hat, wird das Bild in Weiß geblendet und alles beginnt von vorn.
Volker Saul hat nach meiner Ausstellung in der Galerie Wandobjekte ausgestellt. Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft, Realität und Virtualität verschränken sich hier.

Die Videoarbeit "Wandabeit" war erstmals im Rahmen der Einzelausstellung "life size" in der Galerie Gabriele Rivet in Köln vom 5.5. bis 10.6.2000 zu sehen.

2000 - video projection on a white wall
A life-size image of a man painting a wall green is projected onto a white wall. During this activity, which runs in real time, the space - which is brightly illuminated by the projection - becomes darker and greener as the video proceeds. The approximately 20-minute-long recording was filmed at exactly the same spot were the projection was to be shown later, namely, in front of the main wall inside the Cologne-based Gabriele Rivet gallery.
The sequence of events: first, the actors, the gallery owner Gabriele Rivet, and the artist Volker Saul (who is dressed in blue overalls), take a picture down from the wall. This picture is a large photograph taken by Mercedes Barros, who exhibited her work before my "life-size" exhibition. After the picture has been taken away, Volker Saul removes the nails and puts putty in the holes before painting the wall green. Once he has finished painting, the picture fades to white and the whole process starts all over again.
