Das Kennzeichen der gängigen Musikvideoclips ist ihre synthetische Bilderflut, das Ausreizen fast aller technischen Tricks innerhalb von ca. 3 Minuten und ihre damit bedingte Ruhelosigkeit. Meine Musikvideos sind langweilig. Man sieht nichts außer eine sich drehende Schallplatte und einen Tonarm, der sich Rille für Rille der Mitte zu bewegt ("Musikvideos I und II"). In "Musikvideo I" hört man Bill Haley rocken, in "Musikvideo II" trällert Marilyn Monroe. "Musikvideo III" kommt sogar ohne Platte aus. Da steppen die Andrew Sisters auf dem leeren Plattenteller. Auge und Ohr, das Visuelle und das Akustische, Video und Audio werden bei Film und Video als eigenständige Komponenten behandelt und beliebig kombiniert. Eine Sinnestäuschung. Die Platte, die man sieht hört man nicht. Die Platte, die man hört sieht man nicht.

The characteristics of an ordinary video clip are the flow of synthetic images, the use of almost every effect available within a three-minute period, and the thus resulting restlessness. My video clips are very boring. You see only a record turning and the arm of the record-player move groove by groove toward the middle of the record. In "Music Video I," you hear Bill Haley rocking. Marilyn Monroe is singing in "Music Video II." "Music Video III" even works without any record at all: here, the Andrew Sisters are stepping on the blank record-player. In film and video, the eye and the ear, the visual and the acoustic, video and audio are two separate components and are combined at random. An illusion. You don't hear the record you see. You don't see the record you hear.
