Case Study
The video installation was conceptualised for the eight-channel monitor wall in the foyer of the law firm White & Case in Berlin. Two videos alternate on each monitor, summarising the daily work of 16 staff members of the law firm in a mixture of documentation and re-enactment.
In close-up shots – analogous to field research – it is observed and examined openly and with great curiosity how similarly or differently people interact with computers, objects and furniture in offices. It is surprising how many manual tasks are (still) required apart from the digital screen work. The clatter of computer keyboards, the clicking of pens and computer mice, the rustling of paper clips, the punching and stapling of papers, the ringing of telephones, the opening and closing of books, folders, drawers, cabinets and doors, the clattering of photocopiers, shredders and coffee machines condense into a vivid collage of images and sounds.
